Musing

To quote Richard Turner from the article 'The Best Laid Plans' in the NZAC Journal 2008:

'It seems to me that you can't plan adventures. Trips get planned, whilst adventures unfold as a series of deviations from the plan.'

Below is some information on the team:

Sally Brown

Sally is the leader of the Kara Gakar Exped. Sally has climbed in the UK and the Alps, put up new trad routes in Morocco and has been on expeditions to Drakensburg, Greenland, Peru, New Zealand and throughout Europe.

Vanessa Wills

When not surfing or climbing Vanessa can be found at work furtively hunched over her computer planning the next big trip. Training for Kyrgyzstan will consist of chasing kangaroos up the nearest hill in 35 degree heat and drytooling on charred eucalyptus. Vanessa is the team doctor.

Eddy Barnes

At 19 Eddy is the youngest member of the team. He describes himself as a grit monkey, born and bred in the Peak District. Eddy is currently living in Oxford where there isn’t any rock at all.

Sari Nevala

Sari is our Finnish expat living in Sheffield. She loves long mountain routes in Scotland and North Wales but can be seen as frequently soloing and bouldering on gritstone. Sari has climbed in the Alps, Finnish Lapland, Norway and Nepal.

Mike Allison

Mike has a liking for long winter routes; starting and finishing in the dark makes a perfect day. He has climbed in Scotland, Norway, Alaska and the Alps. Mike lives and studies in the Lake District.
